Foodival 2012
This year’s Foodival takes place over the weekend of the 22nd & 23rd September. As in previous years we hope all you local gardeners and food growers have been as busy as this bee and will be able to donate any surplus produce you can spare. Local chefs and restaurants will use your hard won local produce to cook up delicious local food. Watch the Foodival site for full details over the coming weeks.
Saturday 22nd – Food collection & Pop-up cookery demo at Mushkil Aasaan 11-4pm
Sunday 23rd – Local food from local restaurants, exciting stalls, live music & competitions at Tooting Market 12-4pm

Meanwhile congratulations to Tim for the successful first run out of a Tooting currency at Foodival with our prototype pound, already known on the streets of south London as a “ROOT” (rather than a quid). Go to the ROOT’S NEW WEBSITE (fast work there Tim) – it’s the destination of choice for anyone out there even vaguely intrigued by the idea of helping put the Root in Tooting.

Fun at Foodival!
It was a great afternoon at the Tooting Foodival with local fruit and veg turned into delicious Tooting dishes by local restaurants and purchased by the Tooting public using a prototype Tooting currency the Tooting Root, all in our local Tooting Market! Thanks to all who helped out including restaurants Meze, Al Mirage, Lahore Karahi, Rick’s Cafe, Pooja and Spice Village not to mention the fabulous Brick Box for hosting the event. Countdown to Foodival
The Food Group are gearing up for Saturday’s Foodival, this year taking place at Tooting Market, 21-23 Tooting High St. All donations of fruit and veg to be magically transformed by local restuaurants into special low food mile Tooting dishes are very welcome. There’s a drop off at the Tooting Community Garden on Friday evening 4-7 pm and also a collection service. Please see the Foodival page for full details. We look forward to seeing you there!

Tooting Harvest Foodival 3
TTT’s 3rd Tooting Harvest Foodival takes place this weekend at Mushkil Aasaan in Upper Tooting Rd. If you are a grower, a cook or simply an eater there’ll be something for you to enjoy, as local restaurants cook up dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. So nearly zero food miles! Any spare local produce will be gratefully received at Saturday’s drop-off, then come back on Sunday to taste the culinary creations of Tooting’s top chefs. TTT Food Grower’s Event!
Bring your Seeds and Gardening Needs!
On April 6th TTT will be holding a Seed Swap and Food Growing event at Mushkil Aasaan from 7-9pm and the event needs YOU!
Do you have any spare packets of seed lying around from last year? Do you have any unloved gardening tools or would you like some for free?? Do you have any questions about urban growing or any tips to share?? If so, the TTT Food Grower’s event definitely needs you!
There will be a seed swapping stall with free gardening tools refurbished by inmates from Wandsworth Prison. Alongside this will be tips on how to grow in urban environments and how to get garden equipment like plant pots from the dump (the ones I got last week were ace :)) there will also be details of how to get a special TTT 10% discount at local garden centres so don’t miss out.
Bring a dish to share food and talk over your gardening successes and disasters with all of the TTT network and get inspired to grow some grub for this Autumn’s Foodival.See you there! -
